Our cancellation policy is based largely on how much time is needed to rebook your site. The closer a cancellation is to your arrival date, the more difficult it may be for us to fill the vacancy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the resort located?
Devil's Backbone Adventure Resort is located just outside Matewan, WV near the Kentucky border. It is directly on Devil Anse Trail 59 of the Hatfield McCoy Trail System, with Buffalo Mountain Trail System to the west and Buffalo Mountain Trail System to the east.
Do you sell gas on-site?
Yes! Devil's Backbone Adventure Resort has a gas station on-site. It is self-serve and card only. We offer 90 non-ethanol gas and 93 premium gas. The gas station is located near the front gate past primitive camping.
Do you have an ATV wash station on-site?
Yes! The ATV wash station is located across from the gas station past primitive camping near the resort's front gate.
Do you have a pool?
Yes, there are two inground pools at Devil's Backbone Adventure Resort, one on the main level behind the Tipple Tavern, and a larger pool at the Trail 59 Grill.
Do you have a bathhouse?
Yes! We have three bathhouses with individual bathrooms (toilet, sink, and shower), one located adjacent to the deluxe tents (two bathrooms) and two in the lower RV area (six and ten bathrooms).
Do you allow pets?
Pets are permitted in Cabins 1-8, the Heliport, RV sites, and primitive camping. Pets are not permitted in Cabins 9-46 or deluxe tents.Dog parks are located near Deluxe RV03 and RV30.
Do you have quiet hours?
Yes. Between the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am noise interfering with the peaceful enjoyment by occupants of adjoining sites is strictly prohibited.
Do you have cell phone service?
We are located in a rural area, so cell phone service is very limited. Verizon tends to do better than AT&T.
Do you provide internet service?
We offer free Wi-Fi and are constantly working to improve our internet connection. We have upgraded our internet to fiber optic and installed landlines and cable TV to the Heliport and all cabins to decrease demand on the internet usage.
Where can I put my trash?
Garbage receptacles are located to the right of the Heliport, near C27, and between the front entrance gate and RV01.
Do you offer a Guest Rewards Program?
Yes! Earn 10 points for every $1 spent toward lodging! Earn 500 points for enrolling by booking online or through the Reservations Office!
Is there a restaurant at the resort?
Yes! Two, in fact. The Tipple Tavern is located at the pool and serves appetizers, burgers, salads, entrees, steaks, desserts, and kids' meals. Visit TippleTavern.com for a full menu and hours. The Tipple Tavern also offers catering to large groups, both at the resort and along the trails!The Trail 59 Grill with adjoining pool is open around Memorial Day-Labor Day and serves burgers, pizza, and appetizers.
